The Neobuxbaumia polylopha is a tall, solitary, pale green and columnar cactus. At full maturity, this impressive plant reaches heights of approximately 12 - 13 metres in height with an approximate diameter of 35 - 36 cm.
The Neobuxbaumia polylopha has between 20 - 50 (somewhat rounded), ribs. Its areolas are small and white-felted. Spines are yellow with 7 to 9 radials that are typically between a 1,5 - 2 cm long.
Flowers bloom nocturnally during the summer months. Its flowers are slightly varying, beautiful shades of red.
Prefers sun and little to moderate water.
