Deuterocohnia lorentziana is a fascinating terrestrial bromeliad that forms dense mounds of rosettes with stiff, triangular leaves. These leaves are covered in white reflective hairs, giving the plant a striking silvery appearance. Native to Bolivia, this unique succulent can grow up to 60 cm tall, with individual rosettes reaching about 2.5 cm in diameter. Its yellow-green flowers bloom from late winter to early spring, adding a touch of color to its silvery foliage.

Care Requirements:

  • Light: Deuterocohnia lorentziana thrives in bright light and can tolerate direct morning sun. Provide some shade during the intense afternoon sun to prevent leaf burn. If growing indoors, a sunny window or grow lights will suffice.

  • Water: This succulent prefers a "soak and dry" method. Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry, and reduce watering during the winter months to prevent rot. It is drought-tolerant and can handle missed waterings.

  • Soil: Use a well-draining, nutrient-rich soil mix. A standard potting mix with added humus, perlite, peat, or bark will improve drainage and airiness.

  • Temperature: Deuterocohnia lorentziana prefers warm conditions, similar to its native habitat. It can tolerate temperatures down to -6.7°C but should be protected from frost.

  • Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer at the start of the growing season. This plant does not require frequent feeding and can thrive on the organic matter in the soil.

All succulents are sent bare rooted (most of the soil removed) by Express Australia Post at the start of each week. You will receive a shipping email for tracking if you provide us with your email address.
